The winter transfer window officially opened in France on January 1, and while Paris Saint-Germain are not expected to be very active this month, the club continues to monitor several players with an eye toward the summer transfer window, according to the latest reports from the French press. None of these names had previously been linked with PSG.
After a day off following New Year’s Eve, PSG returned to training on Friday morning at the Poissy Campus, preparing for the upcoming Paris derby against Paris FC. Behind the scenes, sporting director Luis Campos is keeping a close watch on the transfer market — even if no immediate moves are planned.
Limited January Activity, Unless Forced
According to Le Parisien, PSG do not intend to make signings in January unless they are forced to do so by a major injury or an unexpected departure, such as that of Lucas Beraldo. For now, the Brazilian defender remains at the club, and PSG are not actively exploring the center-back market.
Ismael Saibari Offered to PSG
The same source reports that Ismael Saibari (24), the versatile Moroccan attacking midfielder currently starring for PSV Eindhoven and competing at the Africa Cup of Nations, was offered to PSG in December. However, the club has not acted on the opportunity so far. While the situation remains one to watch, there has been no concrete movement on this file.
Three Portuguese Players on PSG’s Radar
PSG’s scouting focus appears to be particularly strong in Portugal. According to Le Parisien and L’Équipe, the club is closely monitoring two members of Portugal’s U17 World Cup–winning squad, both currently at Benfica:
- Anísio Cabral (17), a center-forward who finished second top scorer at the U17 World Cup with seven goals, including the winning goal in the final against Austria.
- Rafael Quintas (17), the captain of the Portuguese U17 side, a compact defensive midfielder (1.73m) also playing for Benfica.
Both youngsters are highly rated and already attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, including both Manchester sides.
In addition, L’Équipe revealed PSG’s interest in Alberto Costa (22), a right-back from FC Porto who has recorded six assists in 23 appearances this season. Notably, Costa is represented by AS1, the same agency as Anísio Cabral and PSG defender Nuno Mendes.
Yan Diomande Also Being Watched
Finally, English media recently reported PSG’s interest in Yan Diomande, the 19-year-old Ivorian winger currently impressing at RB Leipzig and participating in the AFCON. However, this is described as a highly competitive and expensive deal, making a January move extremely unlikely.
While PSG are keeping their powder dry this winter, the club’s recruitment team remains active behind the scenes — laying the groundwork for what could be a busy and strategic summer.
