With the winter transfer window opening on January 1, PSG are not expected to be particularly active in January signings. While a few outgoing situations remain to be monitored — including that of Lucas Beraldo — the club has made it clear that no major arrivals are planned this winter, one year after the blockbuster signing of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

That said, PSG remain alert to market opportunities. Luis Enrique and sporting director Luis Campos continue to closely monitor emerging talents around the world, as they did recently during the U17 World Cup in Qatar. And while Manchester City are reportedly preparing a €75 million move for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, another explosive wide player is rapidly attracting attention across Europe.

Yan Diomande, the Rapid Rise of Leipzig’s New Star

According to Sky Sports UK, PSG are among the clubs closely watching Yan Diomande, a 19-year-old Ivorian winger currently shining at RB Leipzig. Manchester United are also tracking the player after initially targeting Semenyo, while Bayern Munich and several Premier League clubs are said to be monitoring the situation as well.

Signed by Leipzig last summer from Leganés for €20 million, Diomande has enjoyed a meteoric rise. Just one year ago, he was still playing at university level in the United States. He joined Leganés on a free transfer in January 2025, initially for the reserve team, before breaking into La Liga in March. Only four months later, Leipzig moved quickly to secure his signature.

Since arriving in Germany, Diomande has delivered an impressive start to the season, recording 7 goals and 4 assists in 16 appearances. His performances earned him a senior international debut for Ivory Coast in October, where he scored twice in his first two caps. He has also started both of Ivory Coast’s opening matches at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, against Mozambique and Cameroon.

Leipzig Set a Massive Price Tag

Such rapid progression has not gone unnoticed. Sky Sports UK reports that Leipzig already value Diomande at €60–70 million, more than triple the fee paid last summer. German journalist Florian Plettenberg previously suggested that Leipzig would not even consider selling for less than €100 million, making a winter move highly unlikely.

Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer praised the signing earlier this season:

“Yan is an exceptional talent with huge potential, and that’s exactly what we were looking for.

Yes, we invested a significant amount, but many clubs were competing for him.

We are very happy and proud to have signed this young jewel.

He fits our profile perfectly — young, ambitious, and with enormous upside.

Even with only six months in Spain, he made a strong impression in La Liga, and that’s exactly the type of player we want.”

PSG Interest, but Strong Internal Competition

PSG have been interested in strengthening their winger options for several months, but whether they will make a concrete move in such a competitive and expensive case remains to be seen — especially with the emergence of Ibrahim Mbaye, who is already at the club, two years younger than Diomande, and capable of playing on either flank.

For now, PSG are watching closely — but any move for Leipzig’s new “jewel” would likely require patience, timing, and a very significant investment.
