Scorer of his first professional goal, young Quentin Ndjantou was all smiles after PSG’s 3–2 victory in Metz, taking time to thank both his head coach Luis Enrique and his assist provider Ibrahim Mbaye — a teammate he had himself set up exactly one week earlier.
The 2025–26 PSG side is currently the team in Europe with the highest number of different scorers in league competition, and a new name was added to that list on Saturday evening in Lorraine. Just after the half-hour mark, Ndjantou burst into the Metz penalty area and finished with a perfectly controlled sliding effort after a superb cross from Mbaye. A crucial goal, as Paris eventually won by a single goal, suffering until the very end.
Speaking to Ligue 1+, the 18-year-old midfielder expressed his joy, despite being substituted shortly after the hour mark:
“I’m very happy, first of all, very happy with the victory. We won collectively, we were good. We managed to defend well despite Metz’s attacks. It was a very complicated match, but we managed to win it, we showed character. And today, I’m very happy to have scored that goal.”
Asked again about his first professional goal, Ndjantou expanded on his emotions:
“First of all, just being on the pitch and playing, I’m very, very happy. And I thank the coach again for trusting me today.”
Luis Enrique has shown no hesitation in relying on the young midfielder, even starting him in the Champions League. After previously describing him as “sensational” following his goal against Tottenham, the PSG coach once again praised the club’s philosophy after the match:
“It’s a characteristic of our club: giving confidence to young players when we think they have quality. Today, they played well.”
Speaking to PSG TV, Ndjantou also expressed his “great pride” before thanking his assist provider, academy teammate Ibrahim Mbaye:
“I thank my teammates, including Ibrahim Mbaye for the assist.”
The gesture was a symbolic one. Just a week earlier, during PSG’s 5–0 win over Rennes, it was Ndjantou who had provided the assist for Mbaye’s first Ligue 1 goal:
“He paid me back well. I’m very happy with his match, with my match, and with the collective performance. We were very good and very strong together.”
On the night, the spotlight clearly belonged to the two Parisian youngsters, who once again stood out among PSG’s top performers.
