Absent from Saturday’s Ligue 1 win in Metz, Marquinhos and Ousmane Dembélé both took part in Paris Saint-Germain’s training session on Monday in Doha, Qatar. However, neither player is yet guaranteed to feature in Wednesday’s Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo.
After arriving in Doha late on Sunday, the PSG squad held their first closed-door training session on Monday at the Al-Ersaal Training Site. Marquinhos was seen on the pitch during the session, as the Parisian captain continues his gradual recovery from muscular fatigue in his right hip.
The key question now is whether the Brazilian defender will be deemed fit in time for Wednesday’s final against Flamengo. PSG’s medical staff are traditionally cautious in such situations, especially considering that Marquinhos was rested for the Ligue 1 fixture in Metz, which Paris won 3–2 on Saturday.
Doubts also remain around Ousmane Dembélé, who is easing his way back after recent illness. The final decision regarding the involvement of both players is expected to be taken closer to matchday.
