Speaking to Brazilian broadcaster TNT Sports after PSG’s 0–0 draw in Bilbao, Luis Enrique was asked which opponent he would rather face in the Intercontinental Cup Final on December 17. The PSG coach didn’t hide his opinion.

Earlier in the day, Flamengo defeated Cruz Azul 2–1 in Qatar thanks to a brace from Uruguayan playmaker Giorgian De Arrascaeta. With that win, the Brazilian side advanced to the play-off round, where they will face Pyramids FC on December 13. The winner of that match will meet PSG in the final four days later at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium—the same venue used for both Flamengo’s game and PSG’s match in Bilbao.

After the Bilbao draw, TNT Sports asked Luis Enrique if he was hoping to face another Copa Libertadores champion, a few months after PSG’s loss to Botafogo at the Club World Cup.

Luis Enrique Would Prefer Pyramids FC Over Flamengo

His answer was direct:

“No! I prefer to face Pyramids FC, a team I don’t really know—even if they can of course beat us,” Luis Enrique said with a smile. “But my preference is not Flamengo, clearly. Have we watched Flamengo in the Libertadores? Yes. We haven’t analyzed them in detail, but we know them. We saw them at the Club World Cup last summer. They’re a very strong team, full of quality players, plenty of experience, and a great coach. So yes, I prefer Pyramids FC.”
