Several reports have emerged in recent hours regarding Ousmane Dembélé’s future at PSG, whose contract runs until June 2028. While speculation has intensified, Luis Enrique has warned against fake news and clearly redirected questions about his Ballon d’Or winner toward sporting director Luis Campos.

Dembélé regains form as talks start

After a season disrupted by injuries, Ousmane Dembélé has rediscovered rhythm and confidence in recent weeks. He began 2026 the same way he ended 2025, scoring against Paris FC and then Marseille in the Trophée des Champions.

Three months after reports in L’Équipe suggested the player wanted a “Ballon d’Or-level salary,” negotiations around his future have started to take shape.

PSG’s first approach revealed

According to RMC Sport, PSG have made an initial oral proposal to Dembélé’s entourage. The club has not disclosed figures but is said to be keen on maintaining balance within the wage structure, where Dembélé is already the highest-paid player, earning an estimated €18 million gross per year.

RMC adds that Dembélé’s camp expects compensation in line with his new status, but not on the scale of Kylian Mbappé’s final PSG salary (€72m per year). With two and a half years left on his deal, there is no immediate urgency.

Conflicting reports about a formal offer

Shortly after RMC’s report, Foot Mercato claimed PSG had submitted a €30m-per-year contract offer, which was allegedly rejected, with the player’s entourage seeking close to €60m annually.

That version was strongly denied by Dembélé’s representatives to Le Parisien, who insist that no written offer has been submitted and that nothing has been refused. The apparent contradiction may stem from the fact that PSG’s proposal was verbal only, not formalized in writing.

All parties agree on one point: talks are only just beginning and are expected to last weeks, if not months.

Luis Enrique calls out fake news

Asked about the growing speculation, Luis Enrique dismissed the noise in his pre-match press conference:

“These are rumors. There are always rumors around PSG. We are used to it. It’s private, and it will remain private. There is a lot of fake news. Some people try to destabilize the team, but that will not happen.”

Pressed specifically about Dembélé, the PSG coach paused before responding:

“That’s a question for the sporting direction. You can ask Luis Campos.”

Several contract situations under review

PSG have already finalized Willian Pacho’s extension (not yet officially announced) and reportedly activated the optional year in Ibrahim Mbaye’s contract. Talks are also ongoing with Bradley Barcola, who now shares the same agent as Dembélé.

Other contract situations will be addressed in the coming months.
