According to Cadena SERReal Madrid could be considering a move for Vitinha next summer — but only under a very specific condition: the departure of Vinícius Júnior.

The Spanish outlet reports that if Vinícius (25) refuses to extend his contract, which currently runs until June 2027, Madrid could look to reinvest the financial savings from a potential sale into strengthening their midfield — with Vitinha emerging as a prime target.

A Very Complicated Deal on Paper

Signed by PSG in the summer of 2022 from FC Porto for around €41 million, Vitinha is now firmly established as one of the best midfielders in world football. The 25-year-old Portuguese international is under contract in Paris until June 2029, making any transfer extremely difficult.

At PSG, Vitinha has become a cornerstone of the team and a key figure in the club’s historic 2025 season, playing a major role in their Champions League triumph and finishing third in the Ballon d’Or rankings.

Vinícius Situation Creating Tension in Madrid

Vinícius’ future at Real Madrid appears less clear than before. Whistled by part of the Santiago Bernabéu crowd during last weekend’s match against Sevilla, the Brazilian winger has come under increasing criticism — both for his attitude and his performances.

So far this season, Vinícius has recorded five goals and eight assists in 24 appearances, numbers considered below expectations for a player of his status.

Fueling speculation further, Vinícius recently changed his Instagram profile picture — replacing a photo in a Real Madrid shirt with one wearing the Brazilian national team jersey. A seemingly minor gesture, but one that hasn’t gone unnoticed with just 18 months remaining on his contract.

PSG Hold All the Cards

In theory, savings from Vinícius’ salary and a potential transfer fee could allow Real Madrid to pursue a high-profile midfielder like Vitinha — especially as Toni Kroos has not been truly replaced since his retirement in 2024.

In practice, however, it’s hard to imagine PSG opening the door. Vitinha is central to Luis Enrique’s project, tied down long-term, and coming off the best season of his career.

For now, this remains firmly in the category of speculation — but it’s another sign of how highly Vitinha is now rated across Europe.
